Reverse Osmosis Systems For Clean Home Tap Water

Reverse osmosis systems prevent potentially harmful contaminants in water from reaching the home and commercial user. For the home owner who is concerned about the quality of their drinking and cooking water, a RO system can be installed either by the do-it-yourselfer or plumber typically underneath the kitchen sink counter.

In a RO system, tap water is forced by pressure into semi permeable membrane that prevents microscopic particles the size greater than 0.001 microns from passing through. Impurities, such as bacteria, pesticides, chlorine and industrial wastes are some of the contaminants which are too large to pass and are flush down the drain.

Typical systems include various filters, tubing and valves. Many include a tank that stores purified water, but some such as the GE Merlin, are tank less. RO units appear complicated; however, there are trained experts who have an understanding of how the system works and can perform troubleshooting if a problem arises. RO isn't new. It has been used commercially for several decades.

Several reverse osmosis systems and their replacement parts are available and easy to order online. To purchase a RO system or to find parts, contact any of these suppliers who specialize in water filter products:
